ABOUT ME
I’m Vamsi Gunnam, a fashion designer currently based in London, UK. My work focuses on art, materials, and distinctive silhouettes, with an emphasis on building strong visual concepts and cohesive collections.
My journey into fashion has been unconventional. I initially studied engineering, which helped shape my analytical and problem-solving approach. Over time, I discovered fashion as my true calling, a field that allowed me to express ideas, emotion, and storytelling through drawing and design. While my early focus was on design, my academic path later led me into fashion management, where I developed a strong understanding of strategy and the business side of the industry. Despite this shift, my passion has always remained firmly rooted in design.
I have a solid understanding of womenswear, trend research, and the luxury fashion market. My strengths lie in design development and illustration, building cohesive collections from concept to final design, and creating clear visual narratives through research and mood boards. While I do not currently produce garments or patterns, I focus on concept development, silhouette design, and visual storytelling, supported by an awareness of brand identity, consumer behaviour, and market relevance. My background in management and engineering allows me to approach design with both creative and strategic thinking.
My design process is strongly research-based, drawing from heritage, archives, and house codes to inform silhouettes, proportions, and mood. I aim to balance tradition with a modern perspective creating work that is expressive, contemporary, and aligned with a clear vision.
